A Matte Black Range Sets the Mood for this South Florida Kitchen

July 13, 2022 by EuroChef

Verona Appliances partnered with Haley Jones of Me and Mr. Jones to craft a moody black kitchen for her South Florida home. To her surprise, Haley didn’t realize that so many homes in the Florida area didn’t have gas hookups available, but she found a great alternative with an electric range from Verona.

“I wanted a gas range look and stumbled across the Verona Designer Series Range,” she says. “This was the first appliance we picked out after weeks of searching for a range that would fit the aesthetic of our modern kitchen.”

Continue to read below for more details on Haley’s experience with her Verona range.

The Brand

Haley and her husband wanted a range in matte black with sleek and modern lines. The model they went with is the 36” Designer Series Electric Range. “The size is great and fits our space perfectly,” she says. “The home originally had a 30” range, but we wanted something a little bit larger to anchor the space and we love how substantial it looks!” Haley also liked how there were several Verona retailers near her, so she felt comfortable choosing the brand in case a repair was needed in the future.

Note: If you’re interested in a Verona appliance or need repair assistance, you can use our store locator to find a licensed retailer near you.

The Design

According to Haley, the overall design of the range is what drew her and her husband in immediately. “It’s so sleek, simple and modern, which is exactly what we wanted for our kitchen remodel,” she says. “We opted for the single door instead of the double-door because I wanted the option to cook sheet pan meals on a large baking sheet.”

Another design feature she appreciated was the feet. “I know that’s oddly specific, but it’s one design feature that I love,” she says. The range in her previous home in California was lower to the ground, so it was more difficult to get under the appliance to recover lost baby and dog toys. The feet on the Designer Series Electric Range raises the appliance higher, therefore, it’s easier for her to sweep, mop and recover toys from underneath.

Photo Credit: Haley Jones of Me and Mr. Jones

The Cleaning

Haley also mentioned how simple her appliance was to maintain. “The cooktop is incredibly easy to keep clean in comparison to other electric ranges that we’ve owned,” says Haley. “In addition, the soft-close oven door actually can come off completely! It’s one of my favorite things about this appliance.”

Note: Instructions for how to remove the door on this model is found on page 22 of the user manual. Cleaning and maintenance instructions start in page 17.

The Functions

The electric cooktop on the 36” Designer Series range has five burners. “I typically only use two at one time, but I love the larger burner in the center of the stove,” says Haley. “All the burners heat up quickly and cook evenly.”

As for the oven cavity, Haley says she typically cooks with the normal convection function, which cooks evenly as well. A fan and multiple heating elements help cook anything, from a roast chicken to a batch of brownies, with ease since it encourages even heating.

Review Summary

Overall, Haley says she and her husband absolutely love their electric range. “The size, the design, and the functionality of it are all really great. The design alone makes it worth the money in my opinion!” She also appreciates how she can customize her range with different colored knobs. “We have a Matte Black set that I plan on installing, but these knobs are also available in Burgundy.”

Why Choose Electric Cooking?

June 1, 2022 by EuroChef

Verona Appliances Stays Ahead of the Curve with Stylish Single and Double Oven Electric Ranges

Electric ranges and cooktops are increasing in popularity among homeowners and designers. Why? According to a growing body of research, gas appliances, which long reigned as the supreme cooking method and hailed by professional and home chefs alike, are proving to be harmful to the environment – and us.

Research shows that living with a gas appliance has led to increased risks of asthma and other illnesses – especially in children – due to harmful air pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and methane. And it’s not only while the appliance is boiling a pot of water for a pasta dinner. In fact, more than three-quarters of emissions occur while the appliance is not in use.

In addition, those same pollutants are harmful to the environment. Yearly emissions from U.S. gas cooktops are equivalent to the emissions transmitted from half a million cars. Overall, homes and buildings are directly responsible for about 13 percent of the country’s annual greenhouse gas emissions, mostly from the natural gas burned by furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers, and gas-powered stoves and ovens.

Gas appliances may become a thing of the past. Some cities are banning new gas hookups for appliances to reduce air pollution and emissions to help in fighting climate change. “Electric cooking will become more of a player in the market as cities and states across the country start to eliminate the possibility of gas appliance installations,” states Melissa Haber, Vice President of EuroChef USA, the exclusive importer of the Verona brand.

A ban on gas appliances has already happened in New York City, where new buildings under seven stories cannot have gas hookups starting in 2023. The ban on taller buildings will go into effect in 2027. In fact, the State of New York is considering a version of this ban in 2027, as well. The San Francisco Bay Area has already had a similar ban in place for the past year.

“We noticed our electric appliances have been increasing in sales,” says Haber. To keep up with changing market demand, Verona released a stylish electric range model with single and double oven options to suit varying tastes. “Our new Prestige 36-inch electric ranges offer the highly sought-after pro look without compromising on performance,” says Haber. “There are very few electric options in the market that are both feature- and style-rich at this price point, so we’re sure our new collection will spark a lot of interest.”

Electric appliances are safe, easy to clean and will make any kitchen renovation easier – which is a welcome relief considering supply chain issues and labor shortages are still impacting the kitchen and bath industry today.

Easy to Clean

For Anastasia Casey of the Identité Collective, who’s used to cooking with gas, an electric cooktop was a learning curve. However, her opinion on this cooking method was transformed.  “For starters, it’s shockingly easy to keep clean,” she says, as the cooktop surface is entirely flat. “Without all the metal grates to fuss over, I can just let it cool and wipe up any spills or splatters.”

Appliance owners can effortlessly clean an electric cooktop with a damp dish rag and soap. For caked on messes, a little warm vinegar can go a long way.

Safe

While an electric appliance doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of burns or fires, it does lower the risk because there’s no open flame. For extra safety features, the appliance often comes with “power on” lights and residual heat warnings to inform appliance owners when the surface is still hot to the touch.

Induction is also a form of electric cooking that is often purchased with safety in mind. With the Verona Designer Induction Range’s electric magnetic coils, the surface does not retain or give off heat since only the pot is directly heated.

Less Fuss with Renovating

Home renovations have increased dramatically in the past few years, and it’s a shift that will continue to increase in the years to come. But with supply chain issues and labor shortages still impacting the industry, renovating any room in the home, such as a kitchen, can be a headache for all parties involved.

If a homeowner doesn’t have a gas line already set up, installing a hookup can be a costly and time-consuming process filled with inspections and installation appointments. But with an electric appliance, the installation process is easier and less expensive. “Once things were in place, we simply plugged things in and put them straight to use—electric appliances for the win,” says Anastasia Casey.

Solutions for Gas Cooking

Not everyone is able to, or has the means, to replace their gas appliances with electric. So, what to do if the switch can’t be made? Invest in a range hood, which can cut the appliance’s air pollution in about half. Range hoods are critical components for every kitchen, as they work to pull the air into filters or a duct to remove odors, grease, moisture, smoke, and harmful particles (such as greenhouse gasses) during cooking.

Going electric is the way of the future. Choosing an electric appliance will not only help the environment, but will improve air quality in the home and make life easier and safer.

A Modern, High Contrast Lake House Kitchen with The Identité Collective

May 18, 2022 by EuroChef

Verona Appliances recently partnered with Anastasia Casey of the Identité Collective to create a modern, high contrast kitchen for her off-the-beaten-path lake house in east Texas. “As I considered the mealtime logistics of our trips to the lake, I knew we’d be putting the kitchen appliances to good use,” says Anastasia. “But here’s the catch: our lake house [didn’t] have gas, so we needed to find electric appliances that fit our modern tastes.”

Continue to read below for more details on Anastasia’s kitchen renovation and why she loves cooking with electric!

Photo Credit: Anastasia Casey of the Identité Collective

A Trendy, Matte Black Electric Range

Anastasia knew that Verona Appliances had a reputation for quality, but the matte black finish is what sealed the deal. “Finding a beautiful electric range was priority number one,” she says. “I wasn’t willing to compromise aesthetics, so after days and days of research, I was ecstatic to find this matte black option from Verona.” For Anastasia, the 36” Designer Electric Range in Matte Black reminded her of the cooking appliance she had at her primary residence. Even better, it perfectly matched the paint color (Tricorn Black SW 6258 by Sherwin-Williams) on her cabinetry for a seamless, moody look – which is something nicely unexpected in a lake house!

For Anastasia, who’s used to cooking with gas, an electric stovetop was a learning curve. However, her opinion on this cooking method was transformed.  “For starters, it’s shockingly easy to keep clean,” she says. “Without all the metal grates to fuss over, I can just let it cool and wipe up any spills or splatters.”

Seeking Balance with a Low Profile Range Hood

When the cabinetry and range colors were finalized, Anastasia had second thoughts about her plans for a range hood. “I felt like we needed some black up top to balance the space,” she says. She decided on the 36” Low Profile Range Hood  that could be mounted under a custom-built header with shiplap trim and then painted the same black shade as the rest of the kitchen cabinetry.

A Large, French Door Refrigerator Built for Families on the Go

If you’re on vacation at a lake house, you’re likely spending most of your precious hours in the great outdoors or on the go. Anastasia can agree. “We’re constantly coming and going from the lake house,” she says. A large, 36” French Door Refrigerator with clear interior storage bins can easily show you what’s stocked, what needs to be tossed and what can be stowed away in the freezer to avoid food waste. “I love that the doors each have deep compartments, plus it came with a standard freeze drawer AND deep freeze drawer option,” says Anastasia. The counter-depth fridge from Verona was given a built-in look by reusing and refinishing the existing upper cabinet box, adding a faux side panel of pine plywood and trimming everything in to tie it all together.

Dishwashers as a Necessity

No one wants to do dishes while on vacation. That’s why dishwashers can be the true workhorses of any vacation home. To round out the kitchen, Anastasia added a brand-new 24” Tall Tub Built-in Dishwasher to the lake house. “With clean lines and a stainless finish, it feels very top-of-the-line, and there’s also a handy light that turns on whenever it’s open,” she says.

Overall, the kitchen renovation was a breeze and Anastasia is thrilled with the results. “Once things were in place, we simply plugged things in and put them straight to use—electric appliances for the win.”

Spring Kitchen Décor Ideas

April 22, 2022 by EuroChef

The days are getting longer and the weather is slowly, but surely, getting warmer. The world is coming alive with greenery, bright colors and floral prints in fashion and interior design to signify the arrival of spring. For décor lovers, a new season means it’s time to give your living space a refresh. Not quite sure where to begin? We recommend starting with the heart of the home, your kitchen! Read on as we share our favorite seasonal style tips for decorating your kitchen for spring.

Budding Blooms

Spring is a time of rebirth and a fresh start for flora and fauna. Flowers are starting to pop out of the ground, the grass is becoming greener and trees are beginning to bud. If you love nature and find solace in having the outdoors in your home, mirror what you see outside into your kitchen.

Budding branches can make an excellent addition to your spring kitchen décor. Find a few in your backyard if you’re looking to be cost-savvy, or purchase a few pieces at your local craft store to display year after year. Hemingway Interiors upcycled an old vase with spackle to create a rustic, artisan look with budding greenery on her kitchen island.

Sensational Seasonal Scents

In addition to decorating your kitchen with flora and fauna, you can also use scented candles as a centerpiece on your kitchen island. Keep the scent light and airy with notes of eucalyptus, jasmine, citrus or rose. Make it even more of a centerpiece by placing the candle on a decorative wooden cutting board or in a large shallow bowl, and add accessories like a wick cutter and a snifter.

If you’re more conscious about open flames, a decorative wax warmer will work just as well.

Showstopping Centerpiece

No vase? No problem! Laura Reister got creative with her range décor and used her heart-shaped dutch oven as a pot for fresh tulips. The pink and red hues pop brightly against her white backsplash and countertops. This décor trick will certainly catch guests in your home by surprise – and might inspire them to do the same!

To get this look, we recommend the 36″ Prestige Dual Fuel Double Oven Range.

Floral Fabrics

Hanging a dish towel over your range handle can make clean-up in the kitchen a breeze. It’s also such an easy way to add seasonality to the space! Susan Serra, CKD, matched her matte black range with a bold black and blue floral pattern. At the end of every season, stock up on dish towels in the clearance section to truly maximize your savings so you’re prepared for next year!

Verona Appliances recently partnered with Deborah Main of the Pillow Goddess to create a modern kitchen for Brooklyn-based product photographer and director Cason Latimer. Cason recently expanded his studio with an on-site, modern kitchen to better serve his growing client portfolio. “I recommended the Designer Series ranges and hoods from Verona Appliances because of my personal and professional experience with the luxury brand’s superior quality and diverse options,” said Deborah Main, designer of Cason’s studio kitchen.

Continue to read below for more details on Cason’s kitchen.

Affordable Luxury

A photographer’s studio is fast-paced, with multiple photoshoots happening simultaneously. Cason needed a range and ventilation hood that would be a reliable workhorse for his client’s projects. “[His] need for a professional-grade range without the price tag was essential for his business to attract top-notch clients,” she says.

Create Your Own Custom Verona Range

What’s great about the luxury Verona Designer Series ranges – whether your personal preference is induction, gas, or electric – is that homeowners and kitchen designers can customize their range with the Designer Range Builder.

Cason chose the Verona Designer Series 36″ Induction Range and 36” Wall-Mounted Range Hood for its professional performance, superior craftsmanship, and affordability. The design of his kitchen, a very modern, clean look, necessitated a range that seamlessly fit in with his new countertop, cabinetry, and classic white backsplash. Plus, the luxury appliances were easy on his wallet.

“With Verona’s many color options, Cason chose a stainless steel finish for his Designer Series Induction 36” range, as it offers that clean, fresh look, which is an excellent choice for any modern kitchen,” says Deborah. “Plus, to be honest, his new range and hood had to look stunning to impress his new clients, and Verona ranges are gorgeous!”

The Details Make All the Difference

The Verona Designer Series 36″ Induction Range and hood make Cason’s studio kitchen a real stand out. “He has many new photography clients in the food industry, and I know he is thrilled to be able to prep and cook on Verona’s magnificent luxury range. Plus, he has the Chefs Pak to make it all a breeze!” says Deborah.

In addition to the range and range hood, Cason also has a variety of accessories from the Chefs Pak, which will significantly help preparation for food and beverage photoshoots. Deborah has a few of the accessories herself and says, “my husband and I recently used the Verona griddle for pancakes and steaks last night, and its performance is excellent!”

Note: Verona recently released a new and improved Chefs Pak, swapping out the stainless steel griddle for a cast iron griddle, which is more lightweight and works well on induction cooktops.

Deborah cannot recommend Verona more highly. “It is of superior quality and will elevate your kitchen to luxury status and professional performance,” she says. “Before you know it, you’ll feel like a professional chef!”

Hosting a Charcuterie Board Night with the Verona Chefs Pak

February 15, 2022 by EuroChef

You might have seen videos of charcuterie board nights while scrolling through Instagram or TikTok. These beautiful and fun boards are easy to assemble, allow guests to graze as freely as they like, and feature endless combinations of meats, cheeses, breads and more. Gather your closest group of friends for your own charcuterie board night with the help of Verona’s new Chefs Pak.

The Basics

These decorative platters of food may look complicated based on their grandeur size and ingredients, but the basics are straightforward. You’ll want to start by breaking the board into categories: one section for soft, easy-to-grab foods that are pre-sliced and one area for harder foods that need cutting. Then, you can decorate the rest of the board with spreadables, dips, toppers and palate cleansers. Label tags can inform guests of ingredients if there are any food allergies.

The Classic Charcuterie Board

A classic charcuterie board is a must for this event. The base of your board should be a serving tray or cutting board, like the maple cutting board from our Chefs Pak. Start with soft, pre-sliced meats in one corner of the board, like prosciutto or roast beef. Add harder meats like a log of salami or chorizo in another corner. Hard cheeses that will also need slicing, like Manchego or Asiago, should be placed next to the hard meats. Add spreadables like goat cheese or hummus. Finally, round out the board with pickles, sauces, honey, jam, crackers or bread.

The Fondue Board

Cheese is the shining star with this charcuterie board. A great fondue starts with shredded swiss and gruyere cheese, white cooking wine and your preferred selection of spices. As the ingredients are melted down, keep an eye on the temperature with a digital probe. Fondue cheese should be kept at 120 degrees to maintain the perfect melting temperature. Add a display of apple slices, French bread, pretzels, meatballs, roasted potatoes and broccoli around your fondue pot. This fondue board features a beer cheese recipe – perfect for game day.

The Rainbow Board

Taste the rainbow with a rainbow charcuterie board. You’ll want to gather a variety of fruits and vegetables in every color of the rainbow. Think apple slices, peppers, oranges, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, asparagus, blueberries, plums, grapes and purple potatoes. You can steam a selection of vegetables with the Verona steamer pan to add varying flavors and textures. Finish the board with dippers like honey, ranch dressing and garlic butter or maple butter sauces.

The Dessert Board

Time for dessert! This board may be the easiest of them all. There’s no shame in getting boxed brownie mix and slice-and-bake cookie dough. Bake brownies and cookies in the oven according to package directions and use Verona’s oven mitts to safely take bakeware out of the oven. Add biscotti to the display to have alongside coffee or tea, or to dip into chocolate or hazelnut spread. Strawberries, raspberries and bananas can also be added for color – and for a dose of healthy vitamins.

The Breakfast Board

Can’t find an evening when everyone is available? Host a brunch after a Saturday morning hockey or baseball game. You’ll want to have breakfast basics, like pancakes, waffles and French toast, but make them bite-sized by having silver dollar pancakes, mini waffles and French toast sticks. Add spreadables like butter, cream cheese and jam. You’ll also want to add meats, like sausage and bacon, which can be cooked with Verona’s cast iron griddle and spatula made for perfectly flipped pancakes and crispy bacon. Finish off the board with syrup and honey for dipping, and fruit and nuts for color.

2021 Kitchen Trend Roundup: What You’re Saving & Sharing

December 8, 2021 by EuroChef

The last month of the year brings about holiday cheer as family gathers from far and near. With 2021 coming to an end, we’re taking the time to reflect on some of our favorite kitchen designs of the past year that incorporate Verona Appliances. You may even find some design inspiration to bring into your own home! Below are our most saved and shared kitchens of the year, according to our Instagram.

Neutral & Ornate Palette

Built in 1905, the “Monster House” is a quaint Californian bungalow nestled in sunny Los Angeles. The kitchen was brought back to life with the help of a range similar to the current  Stainless Steel Prestige Dual Fuel Range and an open indoor-outdoor living concept. The space is decorated in warm neutrals of copper and wood, and is finished off with an ornate chandelier inspired by the outdoors.

Open Shelving for Décor… and Speed

In addition to warm neutrals, open shelving is also quite popular on Instagram. This concept lets well-used pots, pans and serving ware be displayed as part of the décor and within easy reach. Think about the seconds you’d save by no longer rummaging through a cabinet! This kitchen features a range similar to our 36” Prestige Gas Range in White.

Custom Cabinetry for Storage

It seems like there’s never enough storage in the kitchen. AHA! Interiors from Richmond Hill, New York installed a custom pull-out shelf to use every nook and cranny available. The owners now stash spices, oils and infrequently used cookware next to their 30” Gas Range. They even used a two-tiered lazy Susan to squeeze in more spices in the cabinetry.

Task Lighting

Task lighting can do wonders. It can provide additional lighting to help you keep an eye out for the perfect golden sear on a chicken thigh. Or, it can help ease tension on the eyes as you’re cleaning up late at night while the rest of the room is dim. This kitchen features our 36” Double Oven Range and Chefs Pak.

Matte Black Accents

White kitchens have been reigning supreme, but Andrea West Design of Burlingame, California adds touches of sophisticated color to this kitchen. Mixed metals, finishes and glassware displayed on the open shelving unit provide interest, while our 36″ N-Series Electric Range in Matte Black adds drama.
