Savvy Consumers Turn from Trendy to Friendly as High Prices Motivate More Sophisticated Purchase Decisions

August 2, 2022 by EuroChef

In the world of appliances brands, smart consumers are finding entry-level luxury brands like Verona Appliances whose style, quality and functionality are on par with trendier brands, but come at a more accessible price and are in-stock!

First there were no appliances to be found and then came the price increases due to supply chain issues and inflation. While manufacturers have shouldered some of the costs, consumers are seeing at minimum a 13% increase in appliance pricing from 2021 to 2022, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and in some cases, they could be as high as 20% more given that many promotional plans and rebates have been discontinued. Moving from high-priced brands to an “entry-level luxury brand” can go a long way right now for the customer that needs to balance their budgets.

Fortunately, there are hidden gems in the market that are beautiful, functional and reliable – but they do not carry the same high price point as trendier brands. These entry-level luxury brands are getting more than a second look as savvy consumers are ditching brands whose pricing has risen astronomically for companies who have items in stock, come at a lower price and often prove to be more feature rich for the money. With a little research and persistence, consumers are unearthing these gemstones and turning them into hot commodities overnight.

“As a family-owned company since 1958, we are seeing a lot of interest in our brand recently,” states Melissa Haber, vice president of Verona Appliances. “Verona is crafted in Italy, but made for the U.S. market. We don’t spend millions of dollars in marketing – so it takes a little extra effort to find us – but feature-by-feature, our products are on-par, if not better than brands that can charge more because they have more status in the market. Our office still answers phone calls in person, in New York, and our customers really appreciate the one-on-one connection, service and help. There are definite benefits beyond price for picking brands like Verona.”

“Consumers should also be wary of ‘made-in-China’ copycat brands that have recently come on the market – they lack quality and features but their price points are low, so they are grabbing the sale,” states Haber. “They do not compare in features and quality to established brands like Verona that have a good track record for service and quality. Consumers really have to look to find not just a good price, but a great value.”

Verona Appliances recently introduced their Prestige collection with seven new 36” electric ranges. The new 36” electric double oven ranges are an industry exclusive, with an upgraded look that is only surpassed by its high-powered capabilities. The single ovens are offered in four colors (Stainless Steel, White, Matte Black and Burgundy) and the double ovens offered in three colors (Stainless Steel, White and Matte Black).

Why Choose Electric Cooking?

June 1, 2022 by EuroChef

Verona Appliances Stays Ahead of the Curve with Stylish Single and Double Oven Electric Ranges

Electric ranges and cooktops are increasing in popularity among homeowners and designers. Why? According to a growing body of research, gas appliances, which long reigned as the supreme cooking method and hailed by professional and home chefs alike, are proving to be harmful to the environment – and us.

Research shows that living with a gas appliance has led to increased risks of asthma and other illnesses – especially in children – due to harmful air pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and methane. And it’s not only while the appliance is boiling a pot of water for a pasta dinner. In fact, more than three-quarters of emissions occur while the appliance is not in use.

In addition, those same pollutants are harmful to the environment. Yearly emissions from U.S. gas cooktops are equivalent to the emissions transmitted from half a million cars. Overall, homes and buildings are directly responsible for about 13 percent of the country’s annual greenhouse gas emissions, mostly from the natural gas burned by furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers, and gas-powered stoves and ovens.

Gas appliances may become a thing of the past. Some cities are banning new gas hookups for appliances to reduce air pollution and emissions to help in fighting climate change. “Electric cooking will become more of a player in the market as cities and states across the country start to eliminate the possibility of gas appliance installations,” states Melissa Haber, Vice President of EuroChef USA, the exclusive importer of the Verona brand.

A ban on gas appliances has already happened in New York City, where new buildings under seven stories cannot have gas hookups starting in 2023. The ban on taller buildings will go into effect in 2027. In fact, the State of New York is considering a version of this ban in 2027, as well. The San Francisco Bay Area has already had a similar ban in place for the past year.

“We noticed our electric appliances have been increasing in sales,” says Haber. To keep up with changing market demand, Verona released a stylish electric range model with single and double oven options to suit varying tastes. “Our new Prestige 36-inch electric ranges offer the highly sought-after pro look without compromising on performance,” says Haber. “There are very few electric options in the market that are both feature- and style-rich at this price point, so we’re sure our new collection will spark a lot of interest.”

Electric appliances are safe, easy to clean and will make any kitchen renovation easier – which is a welcome relief considering supply chain issues and labor shortages are still impacting the kitchen and bath industry today.

Easy to Clean

For Anastasia Casey of the Identité Collective, who’s used to cooking with gas, an electric cooktop was a learning curve. However, her opinion on this cooking method was transformed.  “For starters, it’s shockingly easy to keep clean,” she says, as the cooktop surface is entirely flat. “Without all the metal grates to fuss over, I can just let it cool and wipe up any spills or splatters.”

Appliance owners can effortlessly clean an electric cooktop with a damp dish rag and soap. For caked on messes, a little warm vinegar can go a long way.

Safe

While an electric appliance doesn’t completely eliminate the risk of burns or fires, it does lower the risk because there’s no open flame. For extra safety features, the appliance often comes with “power on” lights and residual heat warnings to inform appliance owners when the surface is still hot to the touch.

Induction is also a form of electric cooking that is often purchased with safety in mind. With the Verona Designer Induction Range’s electric magnetic coils, the surface does not retain or give off heat since only the pot is directly heated.

Less Fuss with Renovating

Home renovations have increased dramatically in the past few years, and it’s a shift that will continue to increase in the years to come. But with supply chain issues and labor shortages still impacting the industry, renovating any room in the home, such as a kitchen, can be a headache for all parties involved.

If a homeowner doesn’t have a gas line already set up, installing a hookup can be a costly and time-consuming process filled with inspections and installation appointments. But with an electric appliance, the installation process is easier and less expensive. “Once things were in place, we simply plugged things in and put them straight to use—electric appliances for the win,” says Anastasia Casey.

Solutions for Gas Cooking

Not everyone is able to, or has the means, to replace their gas appliances with electric. So, what to do if the switch can’t be made? Invest in a range hood, which can cut the appliance’s air pollution in about half. Range hoods are critical components for every kitchen, as they work to pull the air into filters or a duct to remove odors, grease, moisture, smoke, and harmful particles (such as greenhouse gasses) during cooking.

Going electric is the way of the future. Choosing an electric appliance will not only help the environment, but will improve air quality in the home and make life easier and safer.

How to Clean Your Verona Oven in Time for the Holidays

November 24, 2021 by EuroChef

As we welcome the holiday season this year, you might be thinking about how much activity your Verona oven may see in the next few weeks. From cookies to turkeys, your oven will be put into overdrive – after what could have been a long reprieve from gatherings. Below we explain how to best clean your Verona oven in time for meals with friends and family for the holidays. Your oven will be in tip-top shape in no time!

Tip: Before you get started, make sure to let the oven cool entirely if it was recently used. We recommend wearing rubber gloves and eye protection and to keep small children and pets away from any cleaning products and the oven during the process.

For Gas and Electric Range Ovens

All Verona range cavities are built with an EZ-clean porcelain surface, which makes cleaning the oven easier on you. First, you will want to remove all racks, pans and utensils from the oven cavity. These can be cleaned separately with your favorite dish soap, some warm water and a sponge. The oven cavity can be wiped down with the same solution or with any oven-safe cleaner of choice. Wipe all areas of the oven cavity’s top, bottom, and sides with a sponge or any non-abrasive cloth.

Stubborn dirt and grime can be tackled by initiating a manual self-cleaning process in your oven. Simply fill a shallow baking pan with some water, add a few drops of either lemon juice or white vinegar, and place it in the center of the oven rack. Set the oven to the bake mode and at the highest possible temperature. Let the cycle run for about an hour as it burns off excess grease and grime and turns it into an ash-like substance. Once the cavity has completely cooled, you can easily wipe out residue with a soft sponge or cloth. Before closing the oven door, be sure to completely dry all surfaces with a microfiber or other soft cloth.

If you have a self-cleaning oven from Verona, then most of the time-consuming manual labor will be done for you – leaving you with more time to complete other tasks like setting the table or wrapping gifts. The self-cleaning function works by burning off crumbs, grease, and other cooking residues at temperatures as high as 860°F and may take anywhere between an hour to three hours, depending on how dirty the inside of the oven cavity is.

Before starting this process, make sure to remove the broiler pan, oven racks and any additional bakeware or utensils. The oven accessories can be cleaned separately with warm, soapy water and a sponge. It is also important to wipe up any spills or excess grease before turning on a self-clean cycle to avoid flames and smoke inside the cavity during the cleaning process. Note that while the self-cleaning function is on, the oven cavity door will automatically lock and will not unlock until the interior of the cavity cools to a safe temperature.

After running a cycle, you can easily lift the leftover ash in the oven cavity with a damp paper towel and wipe it dry. Please visit the self-cleaning oven manual for more information.

Verona’s triple-pane glass dThe interior glass on the oven door can easily be a forgotten part of the cleaning process. Verona’s triple-pane glass doors are built to tackle those tricky drip marks easily. Remove the retaining screws and then carefully lift away the glass from the door with a screwdriver. You can clean the glass with your favorite glass cleaning solution. Refer to your specific appliance’s operation manual for step-by-step instructions with figures to help guide you.

We recommend checking the Operation Manual of your specific Verona model for more cleaning tips. You can view the full product library here.

Verona’s Guide to Kitchen Ventilation Systems

October 26, 2021 by EuroChef

Ventilation solutions are critical components for every kitchen and choosing the right one is an important step in the kitchen renovation process. Kitchen ventilation fans work to pull the air around you into filters or a duct to remove odors, grease, moisture, smoke, and harmful particles from the kitchen as you cook. Determining the right ventilation system for your kitchen can be complex, as it is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

You will want to consider what options are available, your style preferences, as well as the structure of your home, your local township regulations and more. We recommend you consult with an appliance professional about which hood is best for you, but for now, we will provide you with a guide of talking points so you can be prepared for an informed conversation.

Know What Types of Ventilation Options are Available

Verona range hoods are designed and engineered with great attention to detail and use only the best quality components available. Featuring powerful multi-speed fans, LED lighting and pro-style upgrades, every Verona hood pairs perfectly with Verona cooking products in an array of sizes and colors for the ultimate choice in performance and design. We have three ventilation options available.

  • Verona Chimney Hoods: A chimney hood is often installed on the wall and eliminates the need for a cabinet over the range or cooktop. The design of this hood often serves as a focal point in the kitchen and can complement the range.
  • Verona Low Profile Range Hoods: A low-profile range hood is mounted directly onto the bottom of a kitchen cabinet and centered above the range or cooktop.
  • Verona Range Hood Inserts: A hood insert is installed directly into a hole cut either in the ceiling or a custom surround. The hoods’ motor box is hidden for a seamless, straight-line design. It’s the perfect hood for appliances installed on an island, peninsula or in a nook.

Determine What Suits Your Style…

Now that you have a general idea of what hoods are available from Verona, you’ll want to think about your overall kitchen vision and which hood will best match your style.

  • The Focal Point: The Verona Chimney Hood offers a lean, straight-line design with rounded edges for a pro-style look. This style hood can easily be the star of any kitchen. In addition, the chef-inspired design will make you feel like you’re cooking in a professional kitchen at home!
  • The Traditionalist: The Verona Low Profile Range Hood installs under an upper cabinet. It’s best for when you would like the hood to be part of the kitchen design, but not the focal point. The low-profile hood is both functional and economical in its design, as it allows to for valuable upper storage in kitchens that are tight on space.

  • Hidden in Plain Sight: The Verona Hood Insert has a clean, slim design with commercial-style performance. This hood is often hidden or integrated into a custom surround designed to match the kitchen cabinetry or as a bold design element.

… and Meets Your Needs

Although you may have a particular style hood in mind, you will also need to consider what will meet the needs of your cooking style and your home. Here are a few questions that should be addressed when choosing ventilation.

  • How many CFMs will you need? CFM stands for cubic feet per minute. This tells you how fast the range hood can move air. The higher the CFM, the faster the air can be moved out of the space. How many CFMs you will need depends on a multitude of factors, including the size and layout of your kitchen. Is it open concept or a micro-sized space? Are there windows? How high are the ceilings? All of these components will be a factor in the CFM power needed. Also consider the width of your cooking appliance and the burner power and fuel type – the larger and more powerful your appliance is, the more CFM’s you will need. Verona’s ventilation options deliver powerful performance from 600 CFMs for smaller cooktops and up to 1,200 CFMs for larger cooktops.
  • How will the air be vented in your home? There are two main types of venting methods: external and recirculating. External venting will push air outside to the roof or the side of the home using vents and ducts. The recirculating method, common in condos or apartments, does not require outside ventilation. Instead, air is filtered through the hood first before being released back into the room.
  • How do you currently cook at home? Think about the type of cooking you do most often. Some range hoods have filters specifically for capturing grease, which can be helpful if you frequently cook with oil. You will also want to think about personal preferences, like if you would prefer extra lighting, want variable fan speeds or a vent that can be controlled by a remote or will automatically adjust fan speed depending on the heat and smoke in the room. Discussing your preferences and cooking habits can help your representative guide you to ventilation that will best suit your needs.

We hope these pointers allow you to feel more confident in your ventilation selection and will help guide you as you work through your kitchen renovation. 20s Kitchen Color Trends

September 22, 2021 by EuroChef

The Pendulum Swings with Kitchen Designs Featuring Verona Appliances

The defining kitchen color trends of the 10s were dominated by soft shades of white, grey and blue in modern farmhouse settings. As we move closer to the end of another year and further into a new decade, Verona Appliances notes a different trend emerging in kitchen design – the explosion of color. The pendulum always swings to the other end, and the following projects prove that colorful kitchens are this century’s version of the roaring 20s.

Jungle Green

Biophilia is everywhere in the design world. Certain shades of green, reminiscent of what is found in nature, provides balance and harmony. It’s a feeling we all crave as we escape the craziness of the outside world at home. This kitchen uses a jungle green hue paired with reclaimed wood beams to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility that often comes with natural materials. The geometric backsplash is also a wonderful nod to the art-deco design of a century’s past.

Butter Yellow

We all need a little more sunshine in our lives. Feel more confident, optimistic and cheerful at home with this uplifting shade of yellow. “Illuminating” was named the 2021 Pantone Color of the Year, so we expect to see more yellow appearing in kitchen designs. To create an even more exciting kitchen, add a punch of contrasting color with an appliance in matte black.

Luxurious. Glam. Modern. We have seen matte black accents slowly dominate the interior design scene, but this kitchen takes it up a notch by outfitting the entire space in it. From the marble backsplash to the cabinetry to the range, this kitchen is bold and moody. You can’t get any further away from the all-white kitchen than this!

Sapphire Blue

This jewel-toned blue has been used as an accent color on islands, but now it’s the star of the entire kitchen. Whether your design style is coastal, modern, farmhouse or transitional, sapphire blue cabinetry creates a calming effect, which again, is a feeling we all crave to bring into our homes. Mixing metals is also a trend we see in kitchens; this designer pairs a stainless steel appliance with gold-toned hardware.
