Decorate Your Kitchen for Fall with Verona Appliances

October 21, 2020 by EuroChef

The days are getting shorter and the leaves have begun to change, fall is in the air!

As Mother Nature makes her chilly presence known, we see a shift in interior design trends, colors, textiles, materials to reflect the organic and cozy vibes Autumn brings.

Relish in the season of change with a refresh to your home decor by incorporating lush accents inspired by the savory sensations of the fall harvest. Not quite sure where to begin? Start with the heart of the home, your kitchen! Read on as we share our favorite style tips for decorating your kitchen for fall.

Embrace the Shades of Fall

Begin your transition from summer to fall by changing the color palette of your kitchen. Whether you go bold and paint your walls and cabinets or prefer a more simplistic approach such as updating linens, dishware and accessories, we suggest opting for a rich color pallet.

Incorporating deep shades of reds, oranges and greens paired with creamy neutrals and wood details will instantly warm up the home for the chilly nights to come.

Add a Comforting Coffee Station

If you like to indulge in a cup full of pumpkin spice and everything nice on a crisp fall morning, we recommend creating a delicious coffee station! Trade-in your everyday mugs for festive drinkware, accessorize with seasonal accents and upgrade your coffee with flavors of vanilla, cinnamon and pumpkin that are sure to welcome the aromas of fall into your kitchen.

Accessorize your Island

As the center of your kitchen, your island should be the focal point of your fall decor. If the island serves as your primary workspace, decorate with pieces that won’t distract from this functional space. Farmhouse inspired jars, wicker baskets and wooden cutting boards lend to a rustic fall theme while providing storage and space for meal prep.

However, if your island is a catchall for all of your household items, dress it up with an eye-catching display of fresh or fake pumpkins. Get creative and adorn your display with fall leaves, gourds and fragrant candles.

Take a Trip to the local Farm

Nothing says fall quite like apple and pumpkin picking! As delicious as fresh organic produce is, it also makes for charming fall decor. Before you make your next trip to your local farm, pick out your favorite seasonal serving dishes or platters and place them strategically around your kitchen where you can proudly display your fall harvest.

Set the Mood with a Fresh Tablescape

Our favorite way to bring fall into the kitchen is with an ornately designed tablescape! Establish a solid foundation with an autumnal runner or tablecloth and work your way up with a bountiful centerpiece inspired by nature.  Garnish your design with elegant candlesticks, and place settings to elicit a serene atmosphere for all of your homecooked meals.

Cooking with a Double Oven Range

February 19, 2020 by EuroChef

If you’re a serious home chef or constantly cooking for a large group, then you know it’s necessary to outfit your kitchen with appliances and design features that are flexible and allow for the most utility. Where ovens are concerned, there are a myriad of options and the best choice might not be a single oven.

Double-oven ranges, as the name implies, are equipped with two ovens and could be the perfect upgrade your kitchen has been craving.

If you’re in the market for a new stove or are considering purchasing a double-oven range, read on as Verona Appliances explores what makes these appliances an extremely valuable tool in the kitchen.

Saves Time by Preparing Multiple Meals Simultaneously

With two ovens, you can prepare multiple meals that require different temperatures or modes simultaneously. This option allows you to save on time when cooking for your family or a group of guests and ensures all of your main dishes are served all at once.

Culinary Customization

In addition to saving time, double ovens allow for culinary customization when cooking multiple dishes at the same time. You can cook meals exactly how you want them in whatever mode you want – broil, roast, steam or bake without the hassle of over and undercooking, or crossing flavors between certain dishes.

Cook Main and Side Dishes at the Same Time

Whether you cook for a large family, love to entertain, plan to host the next holiday dinner, or enjoy cooking gourmet meals – a double oven like the Verona Appliances Double Oven Prestige Gas Range gives you the extra space you need to produce the quantity and quality of food you want. The larger oven is great for cooking main dishes like the Thanksgiving turkey, while the smaller oven and stovetop perfectly prepare the side dishes.

Saves Energy When Cooking Small Meals

Double oven ranges offer the potential for energy savings when cooking everyday meals. The smaller oven utilizes less energy than a larger single oven with a quicker pre-heat and while keeping the temperature inside the cavity consistent.

Cook Your Thanksgiving Turkey To Perfection with Verona Appliances

November 7, 2019 by EuroChef

If you’ve ever hosted or will be hosting Thanksgiving, you know that the turkey truly is the centerpiece of the holiday. From deep-frying and smoking, to slow cooking and grilling, there are plenty of techniques for cooking the main dish. But sometimes the classic way is the best!

Verona Appliances has compiled a list of our frequently asked questions to help you prepare your turkey and the rest of your meal for the big day if you’re this year’s host.

Q: What size turkey will fit in my range?

A: Depending on the size of your Verona Range or Built-in oven, you may fit a turkey that is up to 25lbs or more.

  • In a 36″ single oven cavity, expect that a 25 lb. or larger turkey will easily fit; plus, there should be some room for a side dish or two.
  • In our 24”- 30” ranges and wall ovens the interiors can approximately accommodate a 16” X 13” pan, which will fit about a 20 lb. turkey.
  • In our 36” double oven ranges, a 10 lb. turkey pan will fit in the secondary oven and a 25 lb. will easily fit in the main cavity.

Q: How long should I cook my turkey and on what cycle(s)?

A: The times below are based on roasting the bird (unfrozen), breast side up, at 400°F for the first 30 minutes, then reducing the oven to 325°F and roasting until done. Aim to have the bird done about 45 minutes before serving to allow it to rest for 30 minutes – and time to carve. The times below reflect an unstuffed bird:

Turkey Weight                           Roasting Time

10 to 12 lb.                                        1 3/4 to 2 1/4 hours

12 to 14 lb.                                        2 to 2 1/2 hours

14 to 16 lb.                                        2 1/4 to 2 3/4 hours

16 to 18 lb.                                        2 1/2 to 3 hours

18 to 20 lb.                                        2 3/4 to 3 1/4 hours

20+ lb.                                                3 to 3 3/4 hours

Q: How do I keep cooking time on track?

A: One of the most overlooked aspects of cooking prep is pre-heating. Make sure you leave adequate time for your oven to fully pre-heat before you put your turkey in the oven, otherwise, the entire cooking process will last longer.

Utilize your convection fans. Verona’s new Designer Series of 36” ranges are perfect for keeping cook-time to a minimum with dual fans that allow for optimal heat distribution and consistent cooking temperatures.

Resist the temptation to open your oven door! Doing so causes a great amount of heat to escape from the cavity and the heating cycle will need to start up again. The new, brighter dual halogen lights in the Verona Designer Series gives you a clear view of what’s going on inside the oven and will keep you assured your turkey is moving along.

Q: How do I know if my turkey is done?

A: The breast should register 165°F and the thigh, 175°F. You can use a meat thermometer, like the one available in the Verona Chefs Pak, to determine when the turkey is properly cooked.

Q: What is European convection and why use it?

A: Verona electric ovens use True European Convection cooking, which incorporates a third element and the use of fans. The added element and heat circulation ensures that the turkey will roast evenly on all sides. The even airflow will also keep the turkey moist and minimize the need for basting throughout the cooking process.

Another advantage of a True European Convection function is that it prevents flavor transfer, which allows you to cook multiple dishes at once without your pie tasting like your green beans.

Q: When should I begin cooking and warming my side dishes?

A: In a single oven range, such as the new Designer Series which features an extra-large oven cavity, you can start a side dish or two while your turkey is also cooking. Otherwise, you should start preparing your side dishes while the turkey is cooling.

If you have a double oven range like the one offered in the Verona Prestige Collection, you can begin to cook or warm side dishes in the smaller oven while the turkey is still cooking in the larger oven – or vice versa if you are preparing a smaller bird.

And let’s not forget about the stovetop prepped dishes that truly add to a well-rounded meal – gravy, soup, sautéed veggies, etc. These types of dishes tend to require more precise and varying temperatures, which are easily accommodated by the new brass burners on the Designer Series ranges. With brass burners, you can go from a quick boil to a slow simmer with better control.

Q: What is the importance of proper ventilation?

A: A considerable amount of grease and humidity will be expelled into the air in your kitchen on Thanksgiving. To reduce lingering fumes and moisture, be sure to utilize proper ventilation, like a range hood, while cooking. A running vent can also help get rid of built-up heat as well, so your kitchen and nearby areas, like your dining room, don’t get too uncomfortable.

Verona Appliances offers two types of hoods that will properly ventilate your kitchen during the holiday season.

Top Cooking Tips from Around The World

June 1, 2018 by EuroChef

Looking for some fresh new ways to spice up your cooking? Whether you’re looking too add in a healthy alternative or just need some general cooking advice we have the scoop for you. Check out our tips and tricks from our customers, top chefs and celebrities all over the world that will help kick your cooking up a notch.

Keep Tasting It!

“While it seems like such an obvious trick, my mom would always tell me to make sure to try my food to ensure it tastes good. As a chef, it is important to taste everything all the time at every stage of the cooking process.” – Lean Cohen on today.com

Don’t Cry Over Onions

“Put onions in ice water for 10 minutes before cutting them; this prevents them from causing your eyes to water.” – Angel Leon on Style Caster

Be Adventurous

“Don’t be afraid to swap and substitute—have fun in the kitchen! Experiment and share! Make it a fun adventure.” – Lyza Joe on Verona Appliances Facebook

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth with a Healthy Twist

“To make your desserts healthier, replace ¾ of the cream that the recipe outlines with whisked egg whites (which you will delicately blend with the remaining amount of cream). It will make your desserts light, airy and exquisite.” – Michael Guerard on Vougue.com

Keep the Skin On Your Potatoes

“The secret behind making a great mash for me personally, is keeping the skins on. The skins protect the potatoes, therefore it doesn’t absorb all that water.” – Gordon Ramsay on Buzzfeed

Use Olive Oil to Prevent Free Radicals

“Use olive oil which is an oil that doesn’t oxidize easily or create free radicals as easily as other oils can.” – Christine Cushing on Setting for Four

Stack Your Pancakes The Right Way

“Piled high, flapjacks will become soggy, as the stack prevents steam from evaporating. You can solve this problem by warming them in a signal layer on baking sheets. To avoid driving out the pancakes, warm them for no more than half an hour. You could also use a two-burner griddle, which will shorten your overall cooking –and warming-time.” –Martha Stewart on MarthaStewart.com

Layer The Flavors

“Try not to add all of the ingredients at once. It does make a difference. Most raw foods have a significant amount of water apart from the flavor components. By treating each component separately, we are better able to manipulate the individual characteristics of the ingredients.” – Tony Nogales on HuffingtonPost.com

Add a Splash of Olive Oil

“Invest in a bottle of high-quality olive oil. Just a small drizzle can really bring out the flavor of pizza, mozzarella, pasta, fish and meat.” – Nancy Silverton on Buzzfeed

Verona Wall Oven Helps Give New Life to a 1972 Airstream

April 12, 2018 by EuroChef

Tiny living doesn’t have to mean sacrificing the things you love. In March 2017, San Diego couple Rachael and Virgil, alongside their rescue pup Jovie, decided to commit to a more simple, intentional living lifestyle by purchasing and renovating a 1972 Airstream Overlander which would eventually become their home.

“We took the tiny home route for reasons most do — to live more simply and efficiently,” says Rachael. “It seems that when this big life change approaches, you start thinking about what follows. For us, with our wedding approaching later that year, we had hopes of getting our finances under control, buying a fixer upper house and having the financial freedom to live without feeling the heavy, stressing pull of our wallets. Looking to meet that goal in a reasonable amount of time, we realized that it would be about a decade away, at least (!!), if we kept on living as we were. That didn’t sit well with either of us.”

Rachael and Virgil purchased their Airstream with its original 1972 interior. Together they gutted it down, fixed the chassis and put in all new insulation, subfloor, electrical and plumbing to make everything fresh and new. When it came time to choose the layout, priority was given to the kitchen/dining space. The couple chose a Verona 24″ Electric 110-volt Wall Oven as their primary cooking appliance.

“We both come from Italian families and love to cook together,” says Rachael. “Surprisingly, when selecting only electric appliances small enough for a trailer, there aren’t very many options. We love the size and design of our cute little Verona oven, and it works GREAT. We were really impressed with the consistency and speed of cooking.”

Inspired by southern coastal vibes, Rachael and Virgil describe their style as “California-minimal.” The Airstream design features a bright, open layout and a visually unique space that is functional for their day to day lives.

“The kitchen was very important to us, and we wanted to give it the space it deserved,” explains Rachael. “In tune with that, we also wanted to have a sizeable table where we could eat our cherished home cooked meals, and with friends if we wanted to”

When asked for her best advice for creating a home by Apartment Therapy Rachael replied, “The advice I’ve lived by is to fill your home with items that speak to you, ones that make you feel something. I’ve appreciated this William Morris quote on a whole new level since living tiny, and I plan to hold onto this methodology in all of our homes to come — ‘Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.'”

Be sure to read Rachael’s house tour feature on Apartment Therapy and follow her on Instagram.

Guest Post: White Shanty Design’s Industrial Warehouse Home

October 23, 2017 by EuroChef

Hi there! We’re Seth and Jenna, the husband + wife team behind @Whiteshantydesign. Two years ago we bought a barn style industrial warehouse that we run our businesses out of. In the front of the warehouse we do weddings and events, and in the back we manufacture all kinds of industrial handmade furniture that we ship all over the world. About nine months ago we decided to turn the 3,000 square foot attic portion of the warehouse into our home.

We did everything from the wood floors and finish work, to the furniture and electrical ourselves. We had a very specific look that we wanted and knew the kitchen would be one of the most important rooms in the home. After all, it is where we gather the most for our meals and memories.

We went with a European industrial style design throughout our home, and the Verona 36” Dual Fuel Double Oven Range helped us complete the look. Verona offers a variety of colors to choose from, but the True White was exactly what we had been searching for! Not only is it stunning aesthetically, but the functionality is beyond what I could have hoped for!

I have never had a gas range before, and can I just tell you what a difference it makes?! I love the open flame, and continual grates make it easy to have multiple dishes cooking simultaneously. We’re all about providing wholesome meals for our family, and with five different burners there is plenty of room to cook everything at once. The burners on the cooktop sit closer to the grates than traditional ranges which helps our dishes cook and get to the table more quickly.

I love having the double oven to have dinner going in one side, and dessert in the other. I have plenty of mouths to feed, so the spacious convection ovens are a huge plus for me. When I found out that the larger oven can cook a turkey up to 25lbs., I was sold. I’m especially looking forward to trying out all seven of the cooking modes in both convection ovens.

I cannot say enough good things about my Verona, and if I had to do it all over, I’d choose them again and again. It really was the missing piece to finishing off this space in our new home, and I look forward to baking cookies and making meals for years to come with my five little ones gathered around me in our kitchen. Thank you, Verona, for making it happen!

Guest Post: Blythe & Barnett Kitchen Renovation with Verona Appliances

April 11, 2017 by EuroChef

Hi there! We’re Katie + Cara…two best friends and moms who are passionate about turning a house into a home! Your home is where you come to rest from the cares of the world with the people you love most, so shouldn’t it be the place you enjoy most? The best way to create a relaxing environment is to remove clutter and keep only the things that you feel to be beautiful and have purpose.

blythe+barnett_32

Katie recently moved into a fixer upper that had a lot of charm but was in need of a lot of work. The large and spacious kitchen was the main selling factor, but it was also the room that needed the most work.

before picture

before picture

First up on the kitchen renovation list was to create a neutral backdrop. We said goodbye to the orange toned cabinets and painted them a fresh coat of white. Formica countertops were replaced with a beautiful quartz and the walls were covered in a classic white Subway tile. The kitchen was looking much better but we wanted it to feel more “gourmet”!

To achieve more of a high-end look, we removed the cabinets and microwave above the counter to create a more open feel. We got rid of the dated electric cooktop and instead installed a Verona 30” gas cooktop with a custom built range hood above it. It instantly changed the entire look of the kitchen by opening it up and creating a more modern look! The trendy configuration of the burners and knobs fit perfectly with the aesthetic of the room.

Switching out the cooktop from electric to gas came with more bells and whistles. There’s just something to be said about cooking on an open flame, isn’t there?! With the Verona Gas Cooktop we are now able to heat our food more quickly, and even have the option to simmer soups and sauces on the low heat setting. The continuous grates give us the ability to move around our pots and pans as we cook without ever needing to pick it up off of the cooktop.

blythe+barnett_13

We finished off the kitchen with modern fixtures, accessories and added a few personal touches to make it feel more like home! The kitchen is the heart of the home and by creating a relaxing environment we now have a space that we can enjoy gatherings with family and friends for years to come! You can follow our home renovation journey on Instagram, at @Blythe_and_Barnett.
