Innovation and Design: Verona Appliance’s Guide to 2021 Appliance Trends

February 18, 2021 by EuroChef

Kitchens have never worked harder!

It’s no longer enough that ovens roast, refrigerators keep food cold and dishwashers clean. As the daily function of the kitchen evolves, from a space for culinary creation and dining to virtual classrooms, home offices and so much more, there is a greater need for high-performing household appliances.

Read on as we delve into the latest trends in kitchen appliance design and features, and learn why you should equip your home with powerful and multi-functional kitchen gadgets.

Efficient and Quiet Ventilation

In a time where health and hygiene are at the forefront of everyone’s mind, proper ventilation is an important consideration to enhance wellness in a kitchen. And, now that kitchens have become a multi-purpose room, it is imperative that range hoods are seen more than they are heard. Verona Appliances offers distinct ventilation hoods, including the new Designer Series, that features powerful, yet quiet blowers with four fan speeds to provide hushed filtration when the kitchen is in use for both work and play.

Dual-Fuel Cooking

Homeowners are faced with tough decisions when purchasing a new range, like the choice of gas or electric connections. Or, thanks to advancements in appliance technology, there is now the opportunity to have the best of both options. Dual-Fuel ranges like this Verona Appliances 36” Designer Series feature a gas cooktop and an electric oven. This allows home chefs to cook with the multi-function control of electricity in the oven and the power and precision of gas burners on the cooktop.

Multi-Functional Enhancements

As kitchens grow into their new role as a catchall room that the entire family can use, there is a greater need for multiple meal prep and cooking stations. Combining cooktops with built-in ovens, or stacking wall ovens next to a range are a great way to increase cooking capacity in a home. The new 30” Designer Series Gas Wall Ovens from Verona Appliances offer powerful features and perfectly pair with Verona’s line of cooktops or ranges to efficiently multi-task during mealtime.

Cooking with Flexibility

For kitchens low on space, double-oven ranges like Verona Appliances exclusive Prestige Series option are the perfect option to incorporate extra cooking flexibility. With two ovens, you can simultaneously prepare multiple meals that require different temperatures, modes, and ingredients all in one 36” wide range.

Verona also offers a collection of accessories perfect for the home chef keen on incorporating additional cooking flexibility in the kitchen. From the simmer plate and wok ring to the Chefs Pak accessory kit, there is an option for every level of cooking and offers adaptability to any cooking appliance.

Pops of Color

Say “so long” to standard stainless steel appliances. Homeowners and designers alike are opting for vibrant-hued appliances to incorporate their personal design style and infuse their kitchen with extra flavor.

Verona Appliances takes customization a few steps further with the Designer Range Builder Tool. This innovative utility invites users to build their own appliance by selecting from a series of options including fuel type, body-color, and knob color to craft their own bespoke appliance.

Cohesion in the Kitchen

Finding the perfect balance between functionality and a visually appealing space can have a powerful impact on the way you interact with your kitchen. Creating a cohesive space can inspire aspiring home chefs to go bold with their dishes or establish a comforting environment where families can relax at the end of a long day.

That’s why Verona Appliances has introduced their new Kitchen Suite. Whether your dream kitchen is large, small, or in-between, this new package offers a combination of four coordinating appliances including a refrigerator, dishwasher, vent hood and range to craft the ultimate gourmet kitchen.

100 Years of Kitchen Design

January 21, 2021 by EuroChef

Kitchen design and function have come a long way since the early 1900s. What was once a hidden space reserved only for cooking, has now become the most important room of the home.

Take a journey with us as we delve into the evolution of kitchen design of the past 100 years and consider where the next 100 will take us.

1910s – 1920s

In the early 1900s kitchens were a secluded space tucked away in the back of the home. Its primary function was solely for preparing and cooking food, dining and entertaining was held in a separate room located off of the kitchen. Refrigerators were known as “iceboxes” and appliances were stripped down with basic functions,  and wood stoves had minimal cooking options with no reliable temperature control features.

1930s – 1940s

During the housing boom that took place post-WWII, there was an increased emphasis on the design of the home and demand for technology in the kitchen. During this era, the kitchen was revolutionized with new refrigeration options that offered increased  storage space and ovens that were integrated with hot plates for stovetop cooking. The idea of the “fitted” kitchen became a popular concept and appliances began to be built-in to the cabinetry for a seamless and organized look.

1950s – 1970s

As innovations in technology and design quickly evolved, the kitchen started to transform into the hub of the home. As new homes were being built, the placement of the kitchen moved from the back of the home to the center and was no longer closed off to dining and living areas. Homeowners were opting for bold design choices, selecting whimsical wallpaper for backsplashes, unique linoleum flooring and the iconic wood-look cabinetry we’ve all come to love. During this time, appliances were also advancing to include added cooking options and features that made meal prep easier.

1980s

“Bigger is better” was a major theme of the 1980s and of course kitchens followed this movement. A trend for larger homes added square footage in the kitchen allowing for more countertop space, larger eating nooks and room for entertaining. With all this extra space, islands and peninsulas quickly became a staple in kitchen design. This provided the opportunity for additional seating and multi-functional use of the kitchen which allowed families to spend more time together in this space.

The addition of multiple cooking appliances was also popular during the late 1980s. Wall ovens paired with cooktops or kitchen ranges provided homeowners the option to cook more than one dish at a time, reducing the time it took to cook a meal.

1990s – 2010s

By the mid-1990s, the kitchen had officially been dubbed the heart of the home. The idea of the gourmet kitchen took off during these years with pro-style appliances like Verona Appliances ranges, cooktops, built-ins and ventilation hoods.

Through the late 90s and into the early aughts, luxury details such as granite countertops, tiled flooring, and dark cabinetry brought a polished and modern feel to the center of the home. Stainless steel was the trending finish for all kitchen appliances and accents thanks to its durability and ease of maintenance.

As the age of the internet defined the late 2000s and 2010s, technology was becoming a more prevalent in the home, smart devices were being introduced in the kitchen and the design of appliances was becoming more streamlined for a sleek and futuristic look.

2020 and Beyond

As the role of the home dramatically shifted in 2020, so did the function of the kitchen. Now a home office, classroom, dining room, utility space and so much more, the kitchen serves a much greater purpose.

The need for customization and personalization in this space has become a top priority in the progression of residential design. Verona Appliance’s innovative Designer Range Builder allows homeowners to customize their range by finish, fuel type for a look that fits their personal space and the brand-new Kitchen Suite combines a collection of pro-style appliances to craft a custom design that always looks pulled together.

If your kitchen looks like it belongs in a past era and an update is seriously needed, Verona Appliance offers an extensive catalog of appliances, accessories and tools to transform your space for the modern age.

All of our ranges and hoods are available in a myriad of sizes, finishes, and cooking options to meet the needs of kitchens of all layouts.

We’re excited to see where the future of kitchen design takes us and what’s to come in the next 100 years!

Tips to host a healthy Thanksgiving or Holiday Celebration

November 19, 2020 by EuroChef

Whether you’ve decided to attend or host Thanksgiving this year, safety will be top-of-mind for your family and friends. Although experts agree there is no completely “safe” way to hold a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, here are clever tips for creating new traditions that honor the spirit of the holiday while creating memories for future ones.

A Perfect Virtual Party Plan

The safest way to spend time with family and friends is virtually, but you can still make a seat at the table for them to make the cyber connection more meaningful. Make the virtual event as festive as possible by crafting a beautiful space at the table complete with decor and even desert. If young children are involved – have each family hide a turkey or other themed drawing/toy in plain sight for them to find on the screen and give out prizes if they see it. Create new traditions by sharing images from past Thanksgivings. If you have time, collect the photos upfront and share them on a screen or in a digital photo album for conversation and keepsakes afterward. Use this precious time with older family members and younger ones to share memories, stories and family history.

Keeping it Hot Tip 🔥🔥🔥: If conversations linger, you can use the Verona Chef’s Pak Steamer Insert to keep stuffing moist on the cooktop.

Take it Outside

Other than a virtual gathering, the next safest situation is to take the event outdoors. Think of it as a tailgate party and change the meal/seating options to suit a tailgate environment which can be socially distanced. The most important thing is to be together – not what you eat or where you eat it. And a tailgate can be a memorable occasion with a firepit, outside games and big bowls of hot cider, turkey chili or barbeque turkey legs. Make new traditions as you celebrate the time together and give thanks for the moments and memories you are enjoying.

Staging Hot Tip 🔥🔥🔥: If you gather outdoors or indoors – try and avoid shared plates/passed foods. Create separate platters for each family group vs. buffets and appetizer tables – use eco-friendly disposables to reduce therisk of handling dishware and have garbage bags so each family can help clean their own areas. A Verona double oven range gives you the flexibility to cook different meals or keep different plates warm since staging is going to be more complex.

Prestige Series Double Oven Range

Think Small or Give Big… Menu Prep

If you can’t possibly cook anything but the full Thanksgiving meal – consider packaging up containers to drop off to those on your list who can’t go outside the home to eat or to donate to those in need. Many local food banks and shelters have options for meal drop offs, especially for families living in temporary situations without access to hot meals. Then you can keep what your smaller gathering will consume and donate the rest to those in need this season.

Many households are worried about how to prepare a small Thanksgiving feast and of course Martha Stewart has a menu for that. Another option is to support your local restaurants and order that turkey special and pumpkin pie to go. No cleanup or endless turkey leftovers!

Electric 110v Wall Oven

Work Station Hot Tip 🔥🔥🔥: Consider separating your cooking appliances with built-in wall ovens and cooktops. This gives you more options to cook with family in different areas of the kitchen. It’s perfect for staging, distancing and big meal prep. Plus built-in Wall ovens free up ergonomic storage space under the cooktop for seasonings, tools, pots and pans.

How Do I Cook a Turkey??

If you are stuck at home and have never cooked a turkey before – don’t worry, we have your guide right here! Most of us need a refresher every year since last Thanksgiving is the last time we made the perfect Turkey dinner.

Happy holidays and don’t forget to make time to write down one or two things you are grateful for right now. It’s a great exercise to do with family and to read them out loud to one another on Thanksgiving as well.

Cooking with a Double Oven Range

February 19, 2020 by EuroChef

If you’re a serious home chef or constantly cooking for a large group, then you know it’s necessary to outfit your kitchen with appliances and design features that are flexible and allow for the most utility. Where ovens are concerned, there are a myriad of options and the best choice might not be a single oven.

Double-oven ranges, as the name implies, are equipped with two ovens and could be the perfect upgrade your kitchen has been craving.

If you’re in the market for a new stove or are considering purchasing a double-oven range, read on as Verona Appliances explores what makes these appliances an extremely valuable tool in the kitchen.

Saves Time by Preparing Multiple Meals Simultaneously

With two ovens, you can prepare multiple meals that require different temperatures or modes simultaneously. This option allows you to save on time when cooking for your family or a group of guests and ensures all of your main dishes are served all at once.

Culinary Customization

In addition to saving time, double ovens allow for culinary customization when cooking multiple dishes at the same time. You can cook meals exactly how you want them in whatever mode you want – broil, roast, steam or bake without the hassle of over and undercooking, or crossing flavors between certain dishes.

Cook Main and Side Dishes at the Same Time

Whether you cook for a large family, love to entertain, plan to host the next holiday dinner, or enjoy cooking gourmet meals – a double oven like the Verona Appliances Double Oven Prestige Gas Range gives you the extra space you need to produce the quantity and quality of food you want. The larger oven is great for cooking main dishes like the Thanksgiving turkey, while the smaller oven and stovetop perfectly prepare the side dishes.

Saves Energy When Cooking Small Meals

Double oven ranges offer the potential for energy savings when cooking everyday meals. The smaller oven utilizes less energy than a larger single oven with a quicker pre-heat and while keeping the temperature inside the cavity consistent.

7 Tips For Entertaining In Small Spaces

July 24, 2019 by EuroChef

Your love for entertaining doesn’t have to be stifled by your square footage. Get the drinks ready and the food prepped, because Verona Appliances has compiled the best tips for pulling off the ultimate gathering in small spaces!

1. Clean and De-Clutter

Clean countertop space is essential for gatherings of any sorts. Put away the cookie jars and accessories to make room for food, drinks and any hostess gifts that your guests might be bringing.

2. Plan your menu & prep your food

Have a game plan for the food and drinks you plan to serve way in advance so that you can strategically plan when you’ll be cooking which dishes, the temperature they need to be served at and how they’ll be plated. Prep any food that doesn’t need to be served warm ahead of time so you can focus on one task at a time. If possible, take advance of your warm drawer to keep your food at an optimal serving temperature after cooking!

3. Know the capabilities of your range, cooktop or oven

A high-powered appliance is essential to the success of a meal, but you don’t need a large appliance to get the job done. Verona Appliances 24” Gas Range offers all the power of a full size professional range for a small space kitchen. The selection of both high and low power sealed burners that will handle any cooking chore, while the oven’s turbo electric convection fan bakes foods up to 25% faster than a conventional oven

4. Space food and drinks apart

To keep your guests from gathering all in one place, space your food and drinks away from each other. If tabletop space is limited, consider renting or purchasing a bar cart for the occasion to tastefully style your drinkware in a way that is inviting for your guests.

5. Get creative with storage solutions

When it comes to small spaces, storage space is often times the biggest limitation. Use your bedroom to house guest’s coats and bags, and take advantage of any additional space – from floor to – ceiling to create easily accessible storage for party supplies. Store any extra cooking sheets and low rim pans in the full-width storage drawer so they are out of the way and out of sight.

6. Invest in good ventilation

Nobody likes walking into a hot, smoky home. A good ventilation system helps to clear the air and cool down the kitchen while you’re cooking so your guests walk into a comfortable environment. If outside ventilation is not possible, make sure to get a recirculation kit for your hood to keep the air moving!

7. Keep emergency clean-up materials on hand

Slips and spills are bound to happen, especially when you’re in close quarters. Roll with the punches and keep supplies such as paper towels, stain removers and surface cleaners on hand so you can quickly cleanup and get back to the party!

Verona Appliances Takes A Phoenix Flip from Drab to Fab!

January 22, 2019 by EuroChef

In Phoenix, Arizona Ellie Folz and the team at Elz Design worked to flip a dated desert home into a classic modern masterpiece that captured the original charm of the house. Before Ellie came in, the 35th street project was still sporting its original closed in kitchen with a dysfunctional layout and decades old appliances. The goal of the renovation was to create a modern, yet inviting space that would attract homebuyers and sell quickly.

Before

After

“I like simple clean lines, but with some warmth,” says Ellie of her inspiration. The design was beautifully executed by blending modern details, such as waterfall countertop edges and stainless-steel appliances, with organic materials like reclaimed wood beams and marble.

Directly across from the middle island sits a 36″ Verona Appliances Dual Fuel Double Oven Range in stainless steel. According to Ellie, the range was picked because of its stunning aesthetics and technical features. “The Verona range is sleek, modern, and really compliments all the other appliances. The price of the Verona range fit perfectly within our desired renovation budget. The two ovens in one is a great feature and selling point for a potential homebuyer!”

Of her personality as an interior designer, Ellie reveals “I typically don’t choose just one style. I like to mix complimentary styles together.” The combination of light and dark cabinetry modernizes the kitchen, while gold hardware adds some trendy warmth. The farmhouse sink brings in a touch of country while the stainless steel appliances keep it contemporary.

Through all these stunning designs, Elz Design has created a timeless kitchen that is also state of the art. The spacious fridge alongside Verona’s five-burner double oven range has the potential to accommodate any size family. Happily, Folz reports, ”This home was sold before it hit the market!”
